History:

At an altitude of 1,100 to 1,300 meters, a ski area was opened in 2018 in Qishan mountains in the south of Laiyuan in Heibei province. As part of the preparatory measures for the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing 2022, work on the construction of a national ski jumping training center began there in September 2019. The two plastic covered hills HS 140 and HS 106, which are suitable for World Cup events, were already completed by the end of 2020. Their profiles are identical to the ones of the Olympic hills at Zhangjiakou. An 80,000 cubic meter water storage reservoir was created to ensure a reliable supply of snow. In addition to the 30-meter-high jury tower, a wind tunnel is also being built. The plans also show a ski flying hill and smaller training hills (HS 75, HS 40, HS 20), as well as a Big Air jump, the implementation of which is supposed to start in early 2021. The total cost of construction will be approximately 900 million yuan (114 million euros).
First training jumps on the new facility were carried out on December 2, 2020 on the HS 106 and on January 2, 2021 on the HS 140.
