History:

The first ski jumping hill in Bulgaria was built in Rido at eastern suburbs of Samokov. It allowed to jump up to 15 metres. The opening ceremony, which was held on 20 January 1934, was attended by hundreds of spectators. The hill was named as "Tsaritsa Yoanna" ("Царица Йоана" in Bulgarian) as a tribute to Giovanna of Italy who was Bulgarian Tsaritsa (ruler) at this time.
