History:

As early as 1910, there were the first jumping competitions in St. Johann in Tirol, so the first Easter jumping took place on March 20th, 1910.
The Wilder-Kaiser-Schanze in St. Johann in Tirol was inaugurated on January 5, 1947. The best Austrian ski jumpers participated and attracted 3000 spectators to the hill. Franz Mayer won, but Hubert Hammerschmidt set the first hill record with 55.5 meters. Also in the following years, high-class competitions were held there at the beginning of January. The best jumper from St. Johann at that time was Willi Gantschnigg, who jumped a world record of 124 meters in Oberstdorf on February 28, 1950.
The junior ski jumps were later named after him, which were set up in the 1980s not far from the old ski jump location at Rueppenhang, below the Harschbichl. In the 1990s, night competitions took place there regularly. The last competition there was held on Dec-27, 2005, and now they are already overgrown. Furthermore, from mid-1970s, there had been another small ski jump close to "Narzenbauer" for some time.
