Even before World War II, there was a ski jump in Kössen near the chapel. In 1953/54 the Kössen ski club then built the Klobensteinschanze. The inauguration by world record holder Willi Gantschnigg took place on February 7, 1954 as part of a combined competition. In 1967, the ski jumping hill was expanded to a K50 and in 1969 the first international "Grenzlandspringen" was organized by SC Kössen. In 1974 the Klobenstein ski jump was extended to K64 and reopened with the 6th borderland jumping event on December 28th, 1974. In January 1975, even the entire Austrian national team participated in the Tyrol ski championships there. The annual competitions and many national junior competitions were held there until the 1990s.
