First ski jumping events at Bad Ischl were held already around 1910. The famous "Hochtraxlecker Sprungschanze" was then constructed in 1923. In 1930's other ski jumps at Pfandl and Roith existed. Immediately after World War II the ski jump at Traxleck was again for annual competitions from 1946 to 1952.
In 1977 two ski jumps with K-Points of 66 m and 44 m, situated next to the valley station of Katrin cable car at Kaltenbach, could be inaugurated with an international competition. Two years later a junior hill was set up there.
Meanwhile the NordicSkiTeam Salzkammergut, which is a cooperation of SC Bad Goisern and WSV Bad Ischl, is taking care of ski jumping and the hills at Salzkammergut. In October 2005 the first two ski jumping hills of Salzkammergut at all with both small ski jumps at Bad Ischl could be prepared for summer training with plastic mattings. Therefore 35,000 € and 2,000 hours of voluntary work were dedicated by the supporters of NTS.
The two larger ski jumps were as well converted into modern all-year-round ski jump from fall 2008 to May 2010. Including floodlights, artificial snow machines, 3500 tons of soil works, eletrical and water pipes, as well as the shifting and extension of the inrun tower, the costs were 350,000 € and nearly 8,000 working hours of numerous supporters. In early June 2010 the completed plastic covered ski jumping facility could be inaugurated as "Salzkammergut Schisprungarena", with special guests Andreas Goldberger and Wolfgang Loitzl attending.
