Predazzo preparing for the WSC
on 2011-09-17
For the Nordic Worlds in 2013 only minor construction works are carried out on the ski jumping stadium at Predazzo.
The FIS awarded the Nordic World Ski Championships of 2013 to Fiemme Valley (Val di Fiemme) in May 2008. Already for the third time after 1991 and 2003 the WSC will be hosted in Trentino. Only smaller construction measures are applied to the already existing sports facilities and shall be finished by the end of this year.
So the two WSC hills HS 106 and HS 134 at ski jumping stadium "Giuseppe dal Ben" in Predazzo won't be converted. Works constrain onto a large extension building of functions, a new spectator stand and a new cooling system for the inrun trails, as well as the modernization of the judges tower and artificial snow-making system. Additionally the years ago abandonned 60 meter hill will be revitalized and reconstructed as a plastic covered HS 67.
The works - also on the new cross-country stadium - already started in summer 2010 and are on schedule. Already for the numerous test events in the up-coming winter the modernized sports facilities will be used.
