Construction of the Olympic hills for Sochi on schedule
on 2011-06-01
Last week a FIS inspection of the construction site for the ski jumps at Krasnaya Polyana took place. The works there are on schedule so far and already end of the year the Olympic hills of 2014 shall be completed.
In the small village Esto-Sadok at Krasnaya Polyana mountain region above Sochi the construction works for the "Russian National Ski Jumping Centre" have been running already since 2009. Beside the two Olympic hills for the Winter Games 2014 three training hills for young ski jumpers are constructed.
Just lately on May 24 a commission of the International Ski Federation with Walter Hofer and Lasse Ottesen has visited the construction site and taken a look on the progress so far. Right now the foundations for the steel-made inrun towers of HS 105 and HS 140 are layed.
If the works continue on schedule, as the vice-president of the Russian ski federation Vladimir Slavski confirmes, the ski jumping hills can already start operating by the end of the year 2011. First FIS trial competitions are scheduled for February 2012 already.
Further photos of the works so far and the FIS inspection can be found in the photo galleries of the hill view, as well as on the website of the construction authority of Sochi 2014 "SC Olympstroy".
